Make Money Writing Online with HubPages Ad Program

Updated on February 10, 2012

It's not too good to be true. You really CAN make money online! How am I doing this, you ask? Writing on HubPages using the HubPages Ad program. The reason I am so excited to share this with you is because I just hit my first 50.00 payout! What is so awesome about this is I didn't have to do one bit of work. I just wrote about things that interest me. How can anyone beat that? If you love to write and would love to make money online, keep reading. I'll share with you everything you need to know to get started in order to get your first 50.00 payout, just like I did.

So what exactly is an ad program? When you sign up for an ad program, it will place ads on your published material on the internet. In this case, the published material would be your hubs that you have written on HubPages. A hub is just another word for article. Once the hub has been published, ads will appear and you will get paid according to how many times someone comes to your page to read your hub which contains the ads. On HubPages, you can publish as many hubs as you like. There is another ad program called AdSense that pays whenever someone actually clicks on the ads. I will explain a little bit more about this below.

Sign Up with HubPages

First things first. You may already have a HubPages account but if you don't, the first thing you will need to do is sign up with HubPages. Once you have signed up with HubPages, start writing hubs. For me, I love to write about what I know and things I love. Get creative and have fun with it. It's very important that you write interesting, good quality hubs. Make sure to run spell check and all that jazz. When writing to make money, content is important too. Hubs that contain "evergreen" content are good. These are hubs that are written about classic or enduring topics that will continue to be sought for years to come which will help you make a better passive income for you over time.

Once you've signed up with HubPages and written some good hubs, you will need to sign up with AdSense. You have to have an AdSense account in order to sign up for HubPages Ad program but it's a really good thing! This is the one I talked about above where you make money when someone clicks on your ads. AdSense and HubPages Ad program actually compliment each other and increase your earning abilities. For more information on making money with AdSense, see my hub here. If you aleady have a HubPage account and need to sign up with AdSense go here to apply. It may take a few days for your application to be accepted. Keep an eye on your email.

Once you have your Hubpages account and have written some good hubs and also signed up for AdSense and been approved, it's time to opt in to the HubPage Ad Program. You will have to open a PayPal account for the HubPages program but it's completely free and that is where your payment from HubPages Ad program will be deposited for you. To activate your HubPages Ad account, log into HubPages, click on account tab, go to earnings and then affiliate seetings. Then click on the configure button right next to the HubPage Ad Program. Once signed up, you can keep track of your earnings everyday. Once you hit $50.00, you will get paid the following month in your PayPal account. Go here for the complete FAQ section for more details about HubPages and the HubPage Ad program.

**Note** Some people have opted not to do the HubPages Ad program because they felt that it interfered with their AdSense earnings but this hasn't been the case with me. When I first signed up with the HubPages ad program, my AdSense earnings dipped but now they have caught back up plus I have the new HubPages payout. I actually made both the HubPages and the AdSense payouts at the same time.

Tips When Writing Online for Income

There are a few things you need to know in general when writing online for income. The first is always write good quality hubs with enduring content which I already covered above. Another thing is doing all you can to make sure your hubs are visible in the search engines. This is called search engine optimization or SEO. Keywords and correct keyword placement is part of this. It will really be worth your time to do some research on SEO. The better placement you can get in search engines, the more people will be visiting your hubs which increases your online income potential.

It's also important to realize that you may not make money as quickly as you want in the very beginning. When I first started I was only making .15 to .30 a day, but as time went on I realized my earnings were increasing and now I'm up to .70 a day many days. Although slowly, it does add up. Also, I put minimal effort into my hubs compared to others. There is a strategy and there are different ways to increase your earnings and if you are willing to do the research and do what it takes, your earnings should most definitely increase. It's like anything else- you get out of it, what you put into it. My HubPage account is more like a hobby for me but I am still earning money, too. I think that's awesome! Who wouldn't love to get paid for doing a hobby?!! I hope I have inspired you to get started, if it's something you really want to do. If I can do it, I know you can too. Good luck!
