By Jamie Brock

You really don't have to spend a lot of money decorating your home for Christmas. There are many ways to decorate that are both tasteful and inexpensive for the holiday season. As usual, I turned to the internet to round up as many fabulous, budget friendly Christmas decorating ideas that I could find. Some are traditional, some are bold and some are more unique (at least I thought so anyway), but any of them can be achieved to make your home look gorgeous without spending tons of money. Many are made with existing items that you probably already have around your home- these are the best ones! I hope you enjoy going through these budget decorating ideas for Christmas and hopefully you will find something that may work for you in your home.

At Home for Christmas I found this decorated fireplace mantel. I LOVE the large mirror with the snowflakes scattered around and also the ice cycles below hanging from the mantel piece. This would be very easy to do plus inexpensive too. The snowflakes look to be foam shapes. Just think if you added some glitter to them. Also, Hobby Lobby has big letters for 1.00 a piece. They aren't like those in the photo. They are more flat but they would work!

I was looking around at the The Inspired Room and found these candle jars. I'll tell ya, for something so simple, these sure are beautiful! I can picture having them on a mantel or a bar. I bet they really are something in the dark. I believe she has a mixture of Epsom salt and glitter for the snow in the jars. Be sure to click the link to see more ideas!

I am really impressed with these DIY Christmas tree decorations I found at The Exchange. What is so amazing is how cheap they were to make. Have some poster board and some fabric laying around? Click on the link and go to the end of the page to see the tutorial on how to make these trees. I'm telling you.. you will not be disappointed. These are super easy to make and super cheap too!

Love, love, love these hanging decorations from Frugal Design Girl via Apartment Therapy! You could make these in your own colors and prints. She doesn't share how she does it except that she used leftover wrapping paper. I think I would cut out circles from card stock and then glue the glue wrapping paper (cut in circles to match card stock circles)- just so they will be more sturdy. I think these would be really nice to hang around for a Christmas party, too.

Source: Home Design Decorating

Home Design Decorating has many, many beautiful Christmas decor ideas. I love these candles and how simple they are to re-create. The peppermint stick candle is easy. Just get some red or white candles and glue the peppermint sticks all around. You can do the same thing with cinnamon sticks too. I especially love the candles with greenery all around them on the bottom left. If you have some vases, you can easily do this. Just go get some greenery from some bushes outside. Put it in the vase and add a candle!

How creative are these upside down wine glasses used as candle holders that I found at Interior Designing Blog!! Talk about simple to do but SO, so pretty! The minute I saw this I automatically thought, I could go to thrift stores, etc and buy different sizes and shapes of these glasses and come up with a really nice and unique candle grouping for just a few bucks. I love the leaves being showcased in the upside down glasses too.

Source: Martha Stewart

Martha Stewart has some of the best Christmas decorating ideas! I came across these punched paper candle holders. It is made by wrapping the decorative paper with a punched hole design around a hurricane vase. Hurricane vases are not expensive and many times you can find them at thrift stores even less inexpensive. I love the ideas of this because you can use different prints and colors to mix and match. Also, she does have a template to follow for the hole punching but you could very well make your own template and punch out whatever shapes you want. Love it!!

Source: Everyday Beauty

Nothing is more beautiful than a chandelier adorned with beautiful, blingy ornaments. Don't you agree! Unfortunately, I don't have any chandeliers in my home but if you do, you are in luck! Check out this one at Everyday Beauty. You can decorate your own in whatever colors you like and enjoy the beautiful, bright sparkles as you are sitting at your dinner table. Maybe I'll hang a faux chandelier in my apartment :) It would certainly be worth it to me.

Source: Inspire Bohemia

I found this and tons more ideas for decorating with branches at Inspire Bohemia. Super simple to make and easy on the pocketbook! If you have some white spray paint and some ornaments and some sort of vase to anchor it in, you are good to go. If you don't have the spray paint, leave the branch natural. I've never really thought much about using actual branches but after seeing all the photos on the site, branches can be used to make some stunning Christmas decor. Go and see at Inspire Bohemia and see what I mean!

Source: Beyond Drapery

This is a unique idea I found at Beyond Drapery. Got some ornaments, glass candle stick holders and some glitter glue? What a neat idea, using round glass ornaments to spell a Christmas word. I believe some glitter glue or something like that would be perfect for writing the letters on the ornaments. You could switch up the colors of course. Lots of possibilities with this one for sure. There are some other very nice decor ideas as well but this was my favorite.

Source: Digs Digs

Lots of great Christmas decor ideas at Digs Digs! This one is so pretty. I love all the different shades of pink candle sticks. The glass candlestick holders really make it elegant. It's simple, yet very pretty, I think.

Source: Wandering Mist

Get the directions to make this simple, yet stunning candle centerpiece at Wandering Mist. I love the natural look to this one and it's made with real greenery too. Candlelight and greenery makes for perfect Christmas decor. You could dress it up with some poinsettias or something like that.

Source: Noodlehead

Throw pillows are a beautiful touch around Chrismtastime. They really help get you into the holiday spirit. I managed to find a tutorial for these super cute snowflake throw pillows at Noodlehead. I absolutely LOVE snowflakes and this tutorial look pretty simple. They are made from felt. If you don't have a sewing machine, you can hand stitch or use a fabric glue. I would hand stitch the seams and glue the snowflake on. It's not complicated and fairly simple to do.

Source: Practical Enrichment

Go to Practical Enrichment to see this colorful hanging 'curtain' of ornaments and for some great decorating tips. This is bit colorful for my taste but still it's very pretty. I think I would use some silver and gold ornaments and hang them with smaller width organza ribbon with a bow where the string attaches to the ornament. It can easily be changed to suit your own taste.

Source: Yossawat

This is such a bold way to decorate and I love it! I found it at Yossawat but I couldn't find the how to so I'll share how I would do it. I would cut big snowflake shapes out of card board, paint white and maybe add some glitter. For the big stars I would use the paper star lantern template I found at bookmarked at Homemade Gifts Made Easy- so grateful for this awesome tutorial! I would just hang the paper star as it is without adding lights. Of course, adding lights would be fabulous too. All of these would be hung with fishing string to give the illusion that they are just floating in the air. Love, love, love!!

Source: Georgia Peachez

At Georgia Peachez I found this low effort, high impact idea that will blow your mind! Simply take existing large to medium sized artwork or photo frames that are hanging on your walls and wrap them up like presents complete with a bow and hang them BACK on your wall. Christmas gifts hanging on your walls! How easy is that? It's a fun, bold way to decorate for Christmas.

Source: Fern Creek Cottage

This is a very pretty Chrismtas card holder/Wreath found at Fern Creek Cottage. She said she used muted colors on the clothespins so it could be used all year round but you could make one especially for Christmas cards in your favorite Christmas colors. She shows you exactly how she made it and it's very easy. For a tutorial on how to make the decorative clothespins see my hub here. Displaying Christmas cards received is always a nice touch.

Source: Beauty and Bedlam

Look at this beautiful candle holder I found at Beauty and Bedlam. It's basically some Christmas balls, garland and some candles in a bowl.. it's so pretty and easy to make too. I would just make sure to have the candles anchored down solid before putting the balls and garland around and make sure to keep an eye on it so the candles do not burn down too far. This would be a nice centerpiece for the table to light just while having dinner. Don't you think? So pretty!

I love your pictures. You've got great inexpensive ideas that all look like they would cost so much less than they probably do. I'm going to put up those ornaments hanging from ribbons in my kitchen window. Fellow Hubber, lisasuniquevoice
