15 Cheap and Easy Christmas Crafts

Christmas can be so draining on the pocketbook, so I decided to look around the net for some easy and inexpensive Christmas craft tutorials. It am so glad that I did because I found some amazing, cheap and easy crafts that anyone can do especially those of us on a tight budget! Many of these crafts are made out of things that may completely surprise you. Things that other people usually just throw away. It keeps amazing me the talented people who are out there and the fact they are so considerate to share their beautiful creations with us! Many of these completed projects are home decorations. Some are decorative and functional and any of them can be given as sweet handmade gifts.

Frugal with a Flourish has the tutorial on how to make this beautiful Noel sign. It's similar to a more expensive metal version at Pottery Barn. The tutorial is beautifully illustrated with easy instructions. The letters are wooden and were purchased at Hobby Lobby for only 1.99 each. This is a easy, money saving Christmas decoration that you will be able to use for years to come.

I found this super thrifty tutorial at Choose To Thrive. Can you believe this beautiful rustic red star is made from disposable aluminum baking pans!? This is a good tutorial with lots of photos showing how this star was made complete with a link to the star template she used. I am amazed at how nice this turned out and I'm super excited to make some of my own.

How Did I Do It? has a tutorial for this cute snowman/snowlady couple. These are super easy to make and inexpensive too. You could also change the size of them if you wanted. Just make sure the head is in proportion to the size pot you are using. You can put your own personal touches on these. You could decorate your home with them or even give them as gifts.

Kindred Spirit Mommy shares how she made this felt Christmas garland. Felt is really inexpensive so you can buy a lot of it and cut out shapes to make this garland. You are really in luck if you have a sewing machine. Think about how quick you can make this! If you don't have a sewing machine I'm sure there is some way you can hand stitch it. It may just take a bit longer. Either way, this is a super easy and inexpensive craft you can do. Her tutorial is easy to understand with lots of pictures too.

Isn't this Christmas Advent calender so cute? Learn how to make this advent calender with a cheap cookie sheet, chip board shapes and magnets from Holiday Kids Crafts. See the tutorial where she explains everything she did in full detail. As cute as it is, it's hard to imagine it's so inexpensive to make!

**Tip** To save even more money, save your old cereal boxes and cut them into flat pieces for use. These are pretty much the same as chipboard. To increase the thickness, glue two pieces together.

Creative Chaos has the tutorial on how to make these beautiful Christmas trees out of crepe paper!! Did you ever imagine crepe paper could be so pretty? I love the ruffled and fluffy look of these. Also, crepe paper comes in lots of different colors. She has several photos in the tutorial showing how to make these trees. Its a big plus if you have a sewing machine as she ruffles the crepe paper by stitching on the side and then gathering but you could easily sew by hand and get the same effect. Be sure to see all the photos at the link. She has a few different color trees and also a few already decorated.

At See Jane Blog I found these creative Christmas candy dishes. I am so impressed at how cute and functional these are. All you have to have is a terracotta clay pot with the bottom drainage piece and a round fish bowl. Fish bowls can be found at thrift stores and places like that and terracotta pots are generally inexpensive. Just paint your pot and saucer, turn upside down, stick the fish bowl on and add the lid!! You can be as creative as you want with these!

Maple and Vine has a easy tutorial on how to make these cute Post It Note holders. You could make a bunch of these and give them out to friends as little Christmas gifts or use as stocking stuffers. The tutorial is easy to understand and has nice photos. This could be a way to get rid of some of those pretty paper scraps you were saving.

I found this easy craft at Pattie Wack. She gives great instructions in her tutorial on how to make these Christmas greeting card/photo holders. Single coffee cups are inexpensive and can even be found at Dollar Stores and thrift shops. Make one of a few of these for your home or give as a gift to loved ones during Christmas time.

Weeping Cherries has a tutorial for these Mason jar snowmen but if you don't have Mason jars, any jar will do as long as the round head will sit on top. Aren't these cute? The instructions are easy and of course you can add your own personal touches to yours. You can fill them with Christmas candy after they are finished too.

I found this easy and cute stocking tutorial made with felt and contrasting fabric at Sew Retro. The tutorial comes complete with illustrative photos and downloadable pattern piece templates.

Family Fun has the instructions on how to make these red nosed reindeer lollipops. They are super easy to make and can be used as stocking stuffers, gift package embellishments, Christmas party treats etc.

I love this Christmas banner/garland I found at Scrappergirl! It is made from paper plates, green paper and sticker letters. Of course, you can print or draw your own letters or whatever else you wanted to do. You can be creative and personalize these however you want including having it say something different such as Let It Snow or Happy Holidays! This is a cheap and easy project that will give your home a nice pop of color during the holiday season.
